SASOLBURG HEILBRON PETRUS STEYN LINDLEY ARLINGTON SENEKAL ROSENDAL

After the Anglo-Boer war British settlers bought farms and established themselves in the area. Edwin Brolin built a house on his farm Port Arlington and referred to it as “the club”. Thereafter he constructed sport grounds for recreational purposes and established a municipal area called Arlington.

There was a flourishing transport service for passengers to Lindley and as the railway station became more in demand and developed, so did Arlington. Daily 68 trains ran the mainline to Arlington. Unfortunately road transport took its toll and over time activities at the railway station were scaled down, and eventually closed.

Arlington today is known for its upbeat and involved farming community
